PageCritters runs only when you start it on the current Chrome tab. It does not sell personal data, store article text, or monitor the rest of your browsing history.

Data stored locally in Chrome

The extension stores the minimum information needed to resume and display your reading history:

• article URL, page title, hostname, and favicon URL
• first and last reading dates
• active reading time, numeric progress, and last scroll ratio
• session outcome, reached milestones, weekly goal, and companion position

This data stays in chrome.storage.local on your device. You can delete it from the PageCritters dashboard.

Data PageCritters does not store

• article bodies, screenshots, images, quotes, snippets, highlights, or summaries
• unrelated tabs or browsing history
• keystroke contents or mouse movement history
• medical records or proof of an ADHD diagnosis

Article text may be inspected briefly in memory to identify the likely article region and estimate reading length. It is discarded and is never written to storage or sent to a server.

Optional private-beta analytics

During onboarding, testers may opt in to limited, pseudonymous beta analytics. If enabled, PageCritters sends a random installation ID, extension version, event name, timestamp, and limited numeric product data such as milestone, article count, progress, elapsed-minute bucket, or weekly goal.

It never sends article URLs, titles, domains, article text, screenshots, or browsing history with these events. Analytics consent can be changed from Setup & privacy in the extension.

Website privacy choices

PageCritters uses Cloudflare Turnstile on the beta form to prevent automated abuse. Turnstile may process network and browser signals needed to decide whether a request is likely human; PageCritters does not use those signals for advertising or cross-site profiling.

PageCritters does not use advertising cookies. Essential browser storage remembers your privacy choice. If you select “Allow limited analytics,” the website also stores a random session ID and first-touch campaign tags in your browser. These are used to measure the private-beta signup flow. Selecting “Essential only” prevents PageCritters from creating or sending those analytics events, and removes any previously stored website analytics identifiers.

Cloudflare Web Analytics may provide aggregated, cookieless traffic information. PageCritters does not use GA4, advertising pixels, cross-site tracking, or data brokers during the private beta. You can reopen Privacy choices from the footer at any time.

Waitlist and email

If you apply for the beta, PageCritters stores your email address, consent timestamp, referral tags only when limited analytics are allowed, and your application answers. Answers include reading frequency, abandoned-reading frequency, Chrome testing availability, payment interest, preferred future feature, and an optional self-description of ADHD or regular focus difficulty. The optional answer is used only to select a useful mix of beta testers; it is not treated as a diagnosis or medical record.

Cloudflare hosts the site and database. Resend delivers permission-based beta email. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe path.

Payments

The private beta does not charge testers. Test and future subscription checkout are provided by Lemon Squeezy, which processes payment and tax information under its own privacy policy. PageCritters does not receive or store full card numbers or security codes.

Sharing and sale of data

PageCritters does not sell personal data. Data is shared only with service providers needed to run the beta or future checkout, and only for those purposes: Cloudflare, Resend, and Lemon Squeezy.

Retention and deletion

Website funnel events and email-delivery logs are retained for up to 90 days. Waitlist applications and beta answers are retained until 12 months after the private beta ends, unless you ask for earlier deletion. Billing-interest records are retained until the public-launch decision or for 12 months, whichever comes first. Subscription records, if paid plans launch, are retained while the subscription is active and as required for tax, fraud, and legal obligations.

Delete local reading history from the PageCritters dashboard. Unsubscribe through any beta email. For removal of a waitlist record or other privacy questions, email hello@pagecritters.com.

Changes

Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date. The policy will be updated before any account sync or live paid plan launches.
